Chatting with Lucky Magazine editor-at-large: Elise Loehnen

I spent Saturday afternoon at the Lands' End and Lucky Magazine Summer Style Event at the Burlington Mall in Burlington, MA. It was an amazing, amazing day with a fabulous turnout! Shoppers got to get one-on-one style tips from Lucky Magazine Editor-at-Large, Elise Loehnen. Shoppers got themselves pampered with manicures and makeovers. Shoppers got to nosh on delicious cupcakes. Shoppers got the chance to win some awesome Lands' End giveaways. And... the first 100 shoppers got some fabulous swag to take home in their Lands' End monogrammed canvas totes!

I had the chance to chat with Elise Loehnen from Lucky Magazine about some style tips for moms. She was absolutely gracious and kind and so stylish!

Parigi Fashions for Kids

Parigi Fashions for Kids. I'm sure you've heard of some of their brands - DKNY, Puma, Baby Phat, Apple Bottoms and Phat Farm. What I love about Parigi Fashions is that they bring style and coolness to kids in a very classic way. As a mom of young boys and an auntie to young nieces, I love that the clothing isn't "too old" for the kids. It truly is the perfect combination of sweet youthfulness, with a dash (big dash!) of style!

I was sent by Parigi a Puma tee and Puma athletic shorts for my son William to try out. With boys, I love their clothing to reflect their interests. My son William is VERY much into sports right now, so when he spotted the Puma shorts he asked me, "Can I wear these to baseball?" In "boy talk" that means, he loves them.

In all honesty... the beauty of these Puma items is that William can hang out in them, he can go outside and play in them, he can head to t-ball in them... he can do anything and everything he loves because their comfortable and easy wear for him.

What's on your summer reading list?

Every summer throughout my childhood I joined a book club at my local library. I loved walking into the library... picking a really good book... and then being able to add a sticker next to my name after I completed it. I used to devour Nancy Drew books, those were my absolute favorite! I used to wish I could be just like Nancy Drew... I would even try to find mysteries to solve throughout my neighborhood.

Now as an adult...and a mother... reading is something that's tough to fit in.

All my "free" time goes to my little boys - and at night when it's time to relax, I usually crash on the couch with my husband, or try and go for a walk throughout the neighborhood.

But I miss reading. I really, really do. I love books. I love a good story. I feel connected to the characters. When I start a book, I'm one of those people that NEED to finish the book as soon as possible.

One of my best friend's in my town decided to start a very "open and relaxed" book club this summer. Instead of assigning books to the group - we each get to choose our own... we get to pick 3 books - one for June, one for July and one for August. At the end of each month we'll gather at my friend's house to reveal the book we read and tell a little about it. I'm so excited for this!

August: The Red Tent

Usually I go for romance novels... but this summer, with my book club in place, I want to branch out a bit and read some books that I have heard people RAVE about!

Lands’ End Canvas and Lucky Magazine Host Summer Style Event in Burlington, MA

Lands’ End Canvas and Lucky Magazine are hosting a Summer Style Event on Saturday, June 5th from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Lands’ End Canvas at the Lands’ End Shop at Sears at Burlington Mall.

Attendees are invited to discover their summer style, meet Lucky Magazine’s Editor at Large, Elise Loehnen and receive complimentary summer style beauty advice and services from area salons.

The first 100 guests will also receive a complimentary Lands’ End Canvas tote bag and other great giveaways. Textile designer, Lily Raskind will be on-site customizing the totes for attendees with one-of-a-kind painted stencil designs.

If you have a little girl... you must... absolutely MUST get her a tutu shirt. With 4 sons... I haven't been able to personally buy any of my children tutus (they may kill me), but I have bought them for my nieces and some very special little lady's in my life. There are many fashion staples and must-haves. As a matter of fact, you could go crazy trying to keep up with the latest (and greatest) fashion essentials... and let's face it, it's not always easy. The ones that I only keep on my radar are the must-haves that are truly (truly) versatile. I don't want to invest in a piece if I can't wear it over and over and over (and with different items).

Well... I have one!
