Martha Stewart Show: Think Pink

One of the hottest trends for spring? PINK.  Yesterday at a taping of The Martha Stewart Show, I joined blogger Vera Sweeney (I'm Not Obsessed Mommy) for a pinkerrific afternoon. Everyone in the audience had to wear pink--a pleasure since I'm sick of winter coats and black boots.  Here are some pictures of the outing.  The show airs Monday, March 8th.

Wordless Wednesday: Warm Weather Trends

What models are wearing: Pink seersucker shorts from Vineyard Vines and Kiwi St. Tropez shirt our lady model is wearing the latest in pink beads.

Why I loved it: Pretty in pink is the theme for this photo essay.  Fashions for kids should be fun and colorful at the beach.  The young man looks comfortable AND stylish in his togs.  For her the pink hair beads are a fresh and flirty accessory.

Wordless Wednesday: Parisian Style

What models are wearing: Starting from the top.  How I loved this little boy's lady bug hat.  His mom had paired it with a thick corduroy/down puffy coat with little teddy bear appliques. The middle girl was wearing a pretty gray wool coat what caught my eye was the subtle Hello Kitty hat (Hello Kitty is HUGE in France with the preschool set) and her dusty rose scarf. The final shot was of a girl wearing a pretty gold coat.  Her hood was trimmed in fur and she had on chic leggings and flat boots in chocolate.

Why I loved it: French children seem to embrace accessories from and early age. They wear hats and scarves with ease and their accessories always seem to coordinate effortlessly with their clothing.  The first two tots were so cute it was hard to resist snapping a picture.  The last shot shows the transformation from tot to independent dresser.  I had the feeling the little girl in the gold coat dressed herself and she really pulled together a great look--she looked perfected kid-like, but also tres fashionable.

Wordless Wednesday: City Chic in NYC

What model is wearing: Black knit cap from Dolce & Gabbana. Shearling jacket Dolce & Gabbana. Louboutin boots.

Why I loved it: Baby was nice and snuggled in a bugaboo stroller with a wind shield, and mom wasn't letting the cold weather slow her down.  The trim jeans and flat boots told me she wasn't just posing as a mom, she was active and involed.  She looked great and pulled together while keeping mighty warm. I'm not surprised all the brands were designers.  This mom looked like a million bucks.

Why I loved it: It's great seeing Violet enjoying being a little girl--that means embracing pink and prints. Plus, it's great that anyone can get this look! The set is just $43.80 on the Splendid Littles Site.

Wordless Wednesday: Winter Fashion

What models are wearing: Down and fur trim. Ralph Lauren on boy, GAP on girl, and Bogner for mom.

Why I loved it: It was frigid in NYC (about 25 degrees) so everyone is bundled up.  What caught my eye--both mom and her tween daughter had chic boots tucked into jeans and fur-trimmed jackets.    I'm loving fur trim right now and hoods are much more practical than hats.  The little boy had on a fur-trimmed hat too (but he wouldn't leave it on for the photo)--so they looked so trendy and coordinated on the sidewalk.  You've got to love a mom that can pull off looking stylish and keeping warm.

Why I loved it: We're all about peace, love an harmony, but this camo-dress is simply irresistible. I love that it is layered over leggings and a soft tee making it perfect for school and the playground, but without sacrificing an ounce of style.

What our little model is wearing: I was attending the book party for Beautiful Ballerina
the new book by Marilyn Nelson.  The book celebrates dance and hard work.  Award-winning actress Lynn Whitfield was the celebrity reader and the audience was treated to a gorgeous performance by the young dancers in from the Dance Theater of Harlem. The audience was loaded with mesmerized little girls.  Naima got dressed up a bit for the performance in a H&M gray jumper dress and navy underpinning.  She paired it with black knee-high boots that were embellished with flowers (boots are from Daffy's).

Why I loved it: Naima looked fancy, trendy and totally ready to dance. In fact, I had a hard time getting a great shot because she kept copying the moves from the performance.  Her savvy mom obviously knows how to shop in NYC. She worked key trends of the season (the color gray, tall boots)into the outfit.  It comes as no surprise that Naima is a children's model--her cuteness was contagious.

Wordless Wednesday: Oh Boy! Is He Cute

What our little model is wearing: It's really all about the hat. The classic Nordic ear-flap hat from Coccoletta looks so current and fresh in blue and gray stripes ($20). He's also wearing a Tea Collection shirt and Lucky jeans.

Why I loved it: Winter is a great time to accessorize--especially with hats. This Coccoletta handknit cap caught my eye. His mom (or shall I say stylist?) took a basic outfit (jeans and a tee) and made it special by selecting a fun print top with a layered look and this trendy cap.  I'm a big fan of Tea Collection too. The earthy colors and soft fabrics are appealing to moms and kids.

Wordless Wednesday: Business Chic for the Working Mom

Why I loved it: This confident fashionista knows how to mix and match her brands. Who wants to be a slave to one designer! I say spread the wealth. Isabel always looks pulled together and professional. She seems comfortable in her clothes which puts people at ease and helps her get her message across loud and clear.  Working moms take note!

Wordless Wednesday: High Style at the Gap

Why I loved it: Mom and baby had just come from the Million Baby Crawl event in NYC. Luna couldn't have looked more scrumptious in all her knit wear.  I was thrilled to find a child wearing Stella while scoping out the brand.  Plus, I'm mad about how mom combined all the hot shades of purple and gray together. 

Wordless Wednesday: One Hot Mommy

What she's wearing: White & Worn cashmere sweater (purchased for half off at a sample sale); Citizens of Humanity skinny jeans (Bloomingdale's--she splurged yesterday and spent $165 on these, but did make use of a coupon for 15% savings), hand-knit scarf (courtesy of her sister), snake skin heels from Nine West (gift from the hubby last Christmas)

Why I loved it: I didn't know it, but yesterday Courtney worked with stylist Eve Bender. The two shopped all over NYC to freshen up Courtney's look. And it sure worked.  Out of a group of dozens of fashionable and fabulous moms at the event, Courtney stood out. I love the lean silhouette and the pop of color with her autumnal scarf. Plus after four kids, Courtney can still rock skinny jeans.

What he's wearing: Orange hand knit hat from ETSY (mom forgot the exact shop), Second Step fleece plaid shirt with faux suede elbow patches, Children's Place jeans, and Striderite suede sneakers.

Why I loved it: August looks like he stepped out of a fall catalog, yet he seemed comfortable and ready to explore.  None of these clothes are wildly expensive, but the mom mixed and matched brands to create a designer-looking outfit. Plus, all the clothes fit August well. Nice work!
